The US men took on Great Britain in the curling bronze medal game this morning. Click below to read the spoiler results.
Team USA wins the bronze! They took control with some great shots to score 3 in the third end, and maintained their lead all the way to the end. They held Great Britain to a single point in the ninth end, narrowing their lead to one point but getting the hammer in the tenth. After Great Britain put a rock just behind the tee line, the Americans did a great job of repeatedly clearing out the guards in the front. With Great Britain’s last rock, David Murdoch tried to both protect his rock and also block the draw to the button from Pete Fenson, but left an opening. Pete had room to draw around the guard and come right down on top of Great Britain’s shot rock. He pulled back and released, and it looked like it was a little wide at first, but then it started curling nicely, and came to rest right on the button! Team USA wins the bronze medal, winning the first ever medal for the Americans in Olympic curling! Way to go Pete, Shawn, Joe and John! They played great all week, and just had one bad game against Canada, but still came home with some hardware. Nicely done.
I think about 200 more people just decided to come to our open houses this weekend. Yikes!
