Last day for Bob Edwards

For about the past five years, I have woken up to the dulcet tones of Bob Edwards on NPR’s Morning Edition. Today was Bob’s last day, thanks to management deciding they needed a change to get the “right sound” for the “changing needs of our listeners.” Meanwhile, Morning Edition’s ratings have never been higher, and in fact have been rising since 9/11, even beating out Howard Stern and Imus and the like for national ratings.

Vegas Baby!

Great story on Vegas. Basically what happens to the guys from the movie Swingers when they get old and have kids. Funny stuff. At work, we have an occasional poker game and play poker online as well sometimes. It’s always fun to hear the trash talking the day after. None of us really have a lot of interest in going to Vegas though. Well, one guy thinks he’s the next Chris Moneymaker and that he’s going to win the World Series of Poker some day, but the rest of us are content playing our $0.50/$1 games against each other. Much cheaper and more fun. Anyway, read the story. It’s funny.

I definitely don’t remember first and last names. But here they are, in order:
Dan, Michael Joseph, Troy, and Michael Joseph, Paul and Tim.

2. Name the streets/dorms where you lived in college
Abbot Hall, Mason Hall, Village Drive (in Cedar Village Apartments), and Ann Street.

3. Name the favorite bars you frequented in college (after becoming legal, of course).
PT O’Malley’s (because Tim was the bouncer and let us in without cover), Krunchy’s (great karaoke, and beer buckets) BW-3’s (wings and football).

4. Bonus question: research whether those bars are still around.
According to Bars of East Lansing, they’re all still there, although BW3 has moved to a better location (i.e. not in a basement).

Cherry Blossom Pictures

Slowly but surely, they are putting up pictures from the Cherry Blossom bonspiel. There’s a couple of me in the Saturday section, mostly of me stretching, but also watching my sweet shot (I’m further down the ice next to the guy in the kilt), and waiting to sweep (also in the background of the guy in the kilt).

There’s also some pictures from way back in October, at the first bonspiel of the year. Here’s a sweet one of me really sweeping hard.

Jokes are abounding on the Internet, and they started yesterday. Google has two: GCHEESE and GMail. Pretty sure that second one is a joke, but it’s so close to being real (aside from the 1GB storage spae) that it’s fooled a lot of people already.
There’s also the left-handed cell phone which fooled a lot of people too (come on, think about it!). And ThinkGeek has several 4/1 specials, including the EZ Bake oven that fits in a 5.25 slot for CD-ROMS and the CaffeDerm patch, delivering caffeine straight into your bloodstream!
A couple that are funny, but don’t appear to be jokes: A member of Canada’s Parliament proposing making Turks and Cairos Canada’s 11th province. And yes, pigs are flying.
