For about the past five years, I have woken up to the dulcet tones of Bob Edwards on NPR’s Morning Edition. Today was Bob’s last day, thanks to management deciding they needed a change to get the “right sound” for the “changing needs of our listeners.” Meanwhile, Morning Edition’s ratings have never been higher, and in fact have been rising since 9/11, even beating out Howard Stern and Imus and the like for national ratings.
You can listen to Bob’s last interview with Charles Osgood, the first person he interviewed on Morning Edition here.

My mornings will never be the same. We’ll miss you Bob!
